Tragically Hip doc ‘No Dress Rehearsal’ a hit with fans at Toronto film festival

After 11 days of watching films from around the world, movie fans selected The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal as a favourite at the 49th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The film’s producer-director Mike Downie was actively spreading the word and responding to notes of congratulations after garnering recognition for his filmmaking.

Unreleased song lands Tragically Hip back on top of radio charts

Live Nation to build high-capacity concert stadium in Toronto

Live Nation Canada revealed plans today to turn a portion of the YZD community being developed on the former Downsview Airport lands into a culture destination. The entertainment company is building a large-capacity seasonal outdoor concert venue so big that upon completion it will be the largest purpose-built music venue in Toronto and surrounding areas.

Following the roots of reggae from Jamaica to foreign lands

Roy Panton looks youthful in his black Kangol hat, yellow on black print jacket, gold chains and rings. He introduces himself and tells us that he’s from West Kingston, an urban area in the capital of the small Caribbean island of Jamaica. Living on a small island didn’t stop him from gaining access to all forms of music. When he was younger he listened to popular recording artists from America like jazz musicians Sarah Vaughan and Nat King Cole. But he mostly listened to ska, which like him, originated from Jamaica. “Born on ya. Come from ya,” as he puts it.
